Located in the middle of continental Europe, Germany has been at the forefront of European history for the last 300 years. Its capital city Berlin, is home to many historical sites such as the Reichstag, Brandenburg gate and more recently the remains of the Berlin Wall, and the Holocaust Memorial. Outside of Berlin, Munich to the south is another popular destination, famous for its beer festival (Oktoberfest) as well as it being the main entry point into the beautiful Bavarian Alps. Other areas worth visiting are the Black Forest, the Rhine vineyards and the beautiful cities of Leipzig and Cologne.
