Day 1: Venice, Italy (D)
You will be met upon arrival at Venice Marco Polo airport by your personal guide. To reach your hotel you will transfer in a private vehicle followed by a private water taxi through the "streets of water", admiring the palaces and churches along the way. Arriving in Venice you will be swept away by its romantic atmosphere and magnificent architecture. You will be taken to the luxurious Danieli Hotel, after which you will have the afternoon at leisure to take a stroll or perhaps a gondola ride. This evening you can relax and enjoy a gourmet evening meal at the Il Fiori restaurant.
Day 2: Venice (B,L,D)
Today you have the opportunity to enjoy a full day tour of Venice and the surrounding islands. Your guide will take you to the famous landmarks of St Mark's Square and Basilica, the Doge's Palace and the Rialto Bridge. You will then take a private water taxi to Murano Island where you can visit the Glassworks. After lunch on the island, you will travel to Burano Island by private water taxi where you can visit the Lace museum, before travelling to Torcello Island to view its famous Basilica. A sumptuous evening meal can be enjoyed at Locanda di Cipriani restaurant tonight, followed by a romantic night-time water taxi ride back to your hotel.
Day 3: Venice - Portoroz (Slovenia) (B,L,D)
You can choose to take a morning at leisure in Venice to visit any museums or exhibitions which have caught your interest (if you prefer, you can choose to depart Venice after breakfast). After a light lunch at the Danieli Hotel, you will travel by private water taxi to Tronchetto Island from where you will journey to Portoroz in Slovenia by private vehicle. Upon arrival in the charming coastal town of Portoroz, your guide will take you to the fabulous Kempinski Palace, your accommodation for the night. You will then be taken on a leisurely sightseeing stroll, followed by dinner in the highly regarded Kempinski restaurant, where you can enjoy some fantastic fresh seafood.
Day 4: Portoroz - Lipica - Opatija (Croatia) (B,L,D)
This morning you will first transfer to the Hrastovlje church, which houses the World's best preserved "Dance of Death" frescoes from 16th century. You will then be taken to visit the famous aristocratic Lipizzan horses on the Lipica Stud farm where you can follow the story of the dazzling white horses with the dancing feet. After a light lunch you will depart for Opatija in Croatia. Opatija is an elegant tourist destination at the centre of the Croatian Riviera with beautiful sandy beaches fringed by the warm Adriatic Sea. Arriving into Opatija you can check in to the Milenij hotel which is located by the sea in the historic town centre. In the evening your guide will take you to the sensational Le Mandrac restaurant where you can dine by candlelight on the terrace with stunning views over Volosko, a picturesque fisherman's village.
Day 5: Opatija - Postojna - Idrija (B,L,D)
After breakfast your guide will take you on a sight-seeing tour of Opatija which will include a private boat ride along the Riviera and out to Krk Island where you can explore the elite places used by the Habsburg Monarchy for retreat and relaxation. Finally your boat will take you to Kvarner Bay, after which you will return to Opatija. You will then travel to Postojna where you will have lunch before visiting the spectacular Postojna Caves, Slovenia's largest limestone cave system. You will then continue to Idrija where you can enjoy a short afternoon sight-seeing tour of Idrija, including a visit to either the well known Lace Museum or the historic Mercury Mine, one of the World's largest preserved mercury mines. Your guide will then accompany you the short distance to the sumptuous Relais and Chateaux Kendov Dvorec Mansion Hotel where an elegant evening meal will be served either on the terrace or in the garden overlooking the centuries old apple orchard.
Day 6: Idrija - Ljubljana - Bled - Ljubljana (Slovenia) (B,L,D)
This morning you will travel the short journey from Idrija to Ljubljana where you can enjoy a guided sight-seeing tour of Slovenia's cultural capital, stopping for a coffee along the way, giving you time to soak up the atmosphere of this fascinating city. After a light lunch you will travel to picturesque Lake Bled, Slovenia's gem located in the heart of the Julian Alps. Your guide will show you the main sights of Bled, which include a boat ride to the Bled Island, a visit to the castle and museum, and an optional horse-drawn carriage ride around the lake. You will then depart for Predoslje where you will be treated to traditional Slovenian delicacies at the Krištof restaurant before returning to Ljubljana where you will spend the night.
Day 7: Ljubljana - Graz (Austria) (B,L,D)
You will have this morning at leisure to explore Ljubljana, to perhaps go shopping or visit a museum. After lunch you will travel to the renowned Slovene Steyermark wine region where your guide will take you on a cellar tour as well as wine tasting at one of the vineyards before you continue to Graz in Austria. You will be taken to the Grand Wiesler Hotel where this evening you can enjoy dinner at the hotel's delightful Im Wiesler restaurant which combines typical regional influences with international delicacies.
Day 8: Graz - Vienna (B, D)
After breakfast you can enjoy a morning excursion where your guide will show you the highlights of Graz. You will then continue to Austria's charming capital, Vienna, where you will have some free time to explore the city's wonderful historical sites. This afternoon your guide will take you to a strudel demonstration, where you can enjoy the fruits of the demonstrator's labour. Your accommodation tonight is the luxurious Sacher Hotel, known for its traditional Viennese charm; an exquisite dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant and you can even try the world famous Sacher-Torte (a chocolate cake for which the restaurant is celebrated).
Day 9: Vienna (B,L,D)
Today your guide will take you on a full morning of sight-seeing. The Historical City Tour includes a visit to the Schoenbrunn Palace, one of the most culturally important monuments in Austria with beautiful gardens and even a zoo. You can then enjoy a private boat ride on the mighty Danube River, on which you will be treated to lunch. Your final afternoon in Austria is free for you to relax, do a spot of retail therapy or do some more sight-seeing. Tonight you can enjoy dinner in a typical Viennese restaurant, after which your guide will take to you a sensational Mozart concert, a fitting end to a fantastic tour.
Day 10: Vienna (B)
After breakfast you are at leisure until your private transfer to Vienna airport to connect with your international flight home.
