Day 1: Ljubljana - Brnik (D)
You will be met upon arrival at Ljubljana airport by your personal guide. He will then chaperone your private transfer north of the capital to Brnik, and the magnificently rustic and hospitable Jezersek Dvor Estate. Once you have settled into your room, you will have the chance to experience the restaurant's traditional kitchen where you can bake bread with the Head Chef. This evening you will be served a welcome dinner, complete with local Slovene specialities.
Day 2: Brnik - Bled (B,D)
After breakfast you will journey to picturesque Lake Bled, Slovenia's gem located in the heart of the Julian Alps. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf at one of the most beautiful golf courses in Europe, after which you can have lunch in the club house. You can then experience a course learning the traditional techniques used painting Slovene bee hives (panjske koncnice) before driving the short distance to the charming Triglav Hotel, close to Lake Bled. The remainder of the afternoon is free for you to make use of the hotel's swimming pool or spa facilities, or to take a nature walk in this stunning setting. Before dinner at the Lectar Inn which serves typical Slovene dishes, you can enjoy some Snaps tasting at the Gorje tourist farm.
Day 3: Bled - Bohinj (B,D)
This morning your guide will take you on a cultural sight-seeing excursion which includes a tour of Bled Castle, a boat ride out to the island and a horse-drawn carriage ride around the lake. After enjoying lunch at the atmospheric Bled Castle, you will take your private car to Bohinj Lake which is part of the Triglav National Park. From the lake you can enjoy a scenic gondola ride to Vogel Mountain which offers a panoramic view of the Alps. Visit the Shepherd's Museum in Stara Fuzina, before hearing to the charming alpine-style Kristal Hotel where you can enjoy a delicious a-la-carte evening meal.
Day 4: Bohinj - Bovec (B,D)
Today you will travel over the Vrsic Pass built by Russian prisoners of World War One. You can opt to take a nature walk down to the source of the beautiful emerald Soca River, a paradise for water activities and a place of historical importance. Your guide will then descend with you into the Trenta Valley where you can visit the Soca Gorge. Lunch will be at a local farm where you can try the locally farmed Soca trout, and after you will travel to Bovec where you will check into the magical Dobra Vila Hotel, set high in the mountains. The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure to unwind and explore the local area, after which you will be able to enjoy a delicious evening meal before retiring to the lounge where you can have a cognac in front of the fireplace.
Day 5: Bovec - Kobarid (B,L,D)
After a traditional breakfast, your guide will take you to Kluze Fortress where you can witness an exclusive performance by the"1313" acting group of World War One soldiers' experiences. You can then take a short nature walk to the Kozjak Waterfall before continuing along the Soca River where you can enjoy a picnic barbecue consisting of local specialities. This afternoon you will visit the award winning Kobarid World War One Museum which houses a fascinating exhibition on the Isonzo Front. Your final stop of the day is at Franko's Guest House where you can take an exclusive cooking course, before reminiscing about the day's activities over a gourmet evening tasting menu.
Day 6: Kobarid - Goriska Brda (B,D)
Breakfast this morning will be a leisurely affair, full of home-made produce. You will then have some time at leisure before a guided excursion to Tolminka Gorge. The Soca Valley is home to some amazing natural sights, which you will be able to view from your boat ride on the Soca River, where you will enjoy a peaceful lunch. This afternoon you will take a private transfer to Goriska Brda. This region is Slovenia's very own Tuscany, a land of vineyards, cherries, peaches and chestnuts; you will have the opportunity to stimulate your taste buds and sample some fine wines from the celebrated Movia and Kabaj vineyards. After wine tasting, you will continue on to the tranquil Kabaj's Estate, your rest stop for the night, where you will be served dinner accompanied with local wines.
Day 7: Goriska Brda - Lipica - Postojna - Ljubljana (B,D)
Today you will be driven to the Karst region where you will visit the famous aristocratic Lipizzan horses on the Lipica Stud farm where you can follow the story of the dazzling white horses with the dancing feet. Your guide will then take you to Postojna in time for lunch, after which you will visit the spectacular Postojna Caves, Slovenia's largest limestone cave system, and the magnificent Predjama Castle. You journey continues to Ljubljana where you will check into the City Hotel before transferring to the stunning Manna Culinary House for dinner. Day 8: Ljubljana (B,D)
If you didn't take your guide's offer up last night, this morning you can enjoy a guided sight-seeing tour of Slovenia's cultural capital, stopping for a coffee along the way, giving you time to soak up the atmosphere of this fascinating city. Alternatively you can have a morning at leisure to explore the city, go shopping, visit a museum or take an optional activity such as a hot air balloon ride. After lunch you will be taken to a fascinating handicrafts market for any last minute souvenir shopping. You will be taken back to your hotel to freshen up before a final meal at one of Slovenia's best restaurants, Pri Danilu, located just outside the medieval town of kofja Loka.
Day 9: Ljubljana (B)
After breakfast you are at leisure until your private transfer to Ljubljana airport to connect with your international flight home.
