Day 1: Lima
Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer by executive car to the five star deluxe Miraflores Park Hotel. Opportunity for a massage before dinner.
Day 2: Lima
After breakfast, a city tour of Lima including a guided visit to the cathedral, the main square and the San Francisco Catacombs. Lunch at the International Rosa Nautica. Visit to a museum of your choice.
Return to the hotel. Dinner at an internationally renowned restaurant.
Day 3: Lima - Cuzco
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital. After the one hour flight, reception and transfer to the wonderful five star Monasterio hotel; ancient residence of the viceroy of Spain. After lunch, a guided tour of Cuzco including the cathedral, Qoricancha temple, the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking Cuzco, Qenko and Puka Pukara. Return to the hotel. Dinner in the evening followed by a folkloric show.
Day 4: Cuzco - Sacred Valley
Full-day excursion to Urubamba, the sacred valley of the Incas and to the ancient Inca market town of Pisac. Lunch in Urubamba. A visit will be made to Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that was not defeated by the Spanish. A chance to explore the ruins before returning to Cuzco and the traditional market town of Chinchero. Return to your hotel. Dinner.
Day 5: Poroy - Machu Picchu
Transfer to Poroy, a short distance from Cuzco for the luxurious Hiram Bingham train to Aguas Calientes. Full day's guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Lunch, dinner and accommodation at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge.
Day 6: Machu Picchu - Cuzco
Opportunity to enjoy a wonderful sunrise over Machu Picchu and some personal time for private reflection. Lunch at the Sanctuary lodge. Return to Cuzco in the evening aboard the luxury Hiram Bingham train. Cocktails followed by dinner aboard the train. Reception and transfer to Monasterio hotel.
Day 7: Cuzco - Puerto Maldonado
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Puerto Maldonado. Reception at the airport and transfer by canoe to the luxurious jungle lodge. Packed lunch on the canoe. Travelling through virgin rain forest, you will eventually reach the Inkaterra Lodge. An introductory walk into the forest behind the lodge which is dominated by giant Brazil-nut and Dipteryx trees. Frequently seen mammals on the trail are Saddle-back Tamarins, Brown Capuchins and Agoutis. Toucans and many other species of birds are also commonly sighted. Return for dinner, followed by a guided night walk to find nocturnal animals.
Day 8: Clay Lick - Collpa
Trip to the Macaw Clay-lick (Colpa) by canoe, continuing a further 4 hours upriver, deep within the National Reserve where the actual Collpa is situated. After lunch a guided exploration of the the trail system in the area. Camp on a beach near the Collpa.
Day 9: Clay Lick - Tambopata River
A pre-dawn start is needed to get to the clay-lick before the birds. They arrive in search of minerals and salts and the digestive properties of the clay. On average, several hundred macaws and smaller parrots visit the clay-lick daily, including Scarlet, Blue and Yellow, Red and Green, Chestnut-fronted and Blue-headed parrots, among others. This clay-lick is considered to be one of the largest in the world. Following a late morning hike and lunch, return down river to the lodge. At night, a search for caiman (alligators) and other nocturnal animals by canoe along the Tambopata River.
Day 10: Puerto Maldonado - Lima
A dawn start is required for the canoe trip back to Puerto Maldonado with fabulous views of the sunrise over the river. Opportunity for early morning wildlife observation which is particularly active at this time. Howler monkeys are frequently heard, and your guide will assist in your arrival in Puerto Maldonado. Transfer to the airport for the return flight back to Lima.
Reception and transfer to the Miraflores Park Plaza. Time for relaxing in the health spa before a delicious dinner at an internationally renowned restaurant.
Day 11: Lima
Leisurely day with plenty of opportunity for some shopping before your transfer to the airport and your return flight home.
